What is a
Superlative?
A superlative tells us that something is the most** or **the best** compared to others.

1. **Short
Superlative Adjectives**
hese are short adjectives with one or two
syllables.
* To make the superlative, usually add
**-est** to the adjective.
* Examples:
* big → **biggest**
* dry → **driest**
* long → **longest**
**Example sentences:**
* The Amazon **is the biggest** rainforest.
* The
Atacama Desert is the **driest** place.

2. Long Superlative Adjective
These
adjectives have three or more syllables.
To make the
superlative, use the most + adjective.
Examples:
glacial → **the most glacial**
extreme → **the most extreme**
Example sentence:
Which country has the most extreme** climate?
3. Irregular Adjectives
Some adjectives don’t follow the rules and
change completely.
Examples:
good → The best
bad →
The worst
